This is exploratory study that aims at examining formal contractual agreements for firms in Tanzania using Transaction cost theoretical approach. Transaction cost studies have rarely being done on firms in Africa and Tanzania in particular. Sampling frame used is from Tanzania revenue authority records for registered business 2008-2010. The study is centered on business - to business buyer -seller relations. Primary data were collected from buying side of this business relationship. Recommendations for design and analysis of health examination surveys under selective non-participation

Background The decreasing participation rates and selective non-participation peril the representativeness of health examination surveys (HESs). Methods Finnish HESs conducted in 1972–2012 are used to demonstrate that survey participation rates can be enhanced with well-planned recruitment procedures and auxiliary information about survey non-participants can be used to reduce selection bias. Results Experiments incorporated to pilot surveys and experience from previously conducted surveys lead to practical improvements. Non-response bias as a likely cause of the association between young maternal age at the time of delivery and the risk of cancer in the offspring.

Some epidemiological studies have shown an association between young maternal age at the time of delivery and risk of cancer in the offspring. In a recent German case-control study, there was a twofold increase in the leukaemia risk for children whose mothers were aged < 20 years at the time of delivery. SAMPLING DESIGN IN SHARE WAVE 7

This chapter documents the sampling design adopted in SHARE. Starting with a definition of the SHARE target population, we describe the protocol that is followed to harmonise and document the sampling procedure and present the sampling frames used by the countries that recruited a baseline or refreshment sample in Wave 7. We then discuss some important aspects of the SHARE sampling design, such as stratification, clustering, variation in selection probabilities and sample composition. Finally, we provide additional information about the sampling variables included in the released SHARE dataset.
